Sandplay therapy creates a bridge between the conscious and unconscious. Dora Kalff describes it as a “pathway to the psyche and in the hands of a properly prepared therapist, it is a powerful, invaluable modality”. This two-day training opportunity is the beginning foundations of a creative expressive therapeutic modality. In this introductory training Jean and Carina introduced the origins of sand-tray as a therapeutic modality and applications for across a wide range of populations.Facilitators: Carina Conradie and Jean Parkinson

Dr Alexander Esterhuyzen
Alexander Esterhuyzen, BSc Hons, MB ChB, MRC Psych, CCST, IAAP, ISST Certified Sandplay Teacher, has held roles as Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy and Clinical Department Leader in major UK health services along with his role as Senior Psychoanalyst with the Independent Group of Analytical Psychologists, London. He practices privately now mainly in Hong Kong, although he travels and lectures globally, serving several international universities and learning institutions. Alexander has a wealth of experience working with both adults and children in analytic and sandplay contexts. He is the current President of the International Society for Sandplay Therapy, and Past President of the British and Irish Sandplay Society.
Jill Kaplan
Jill Kaplan, MA, LMFT, CST-T, is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California and Certified Sandplay Therapist and Teacher with ISST (International Society for Sandplay Therapy). Jill specialises in child therapy and also works with adults. She offers an integrative approach using dream work, body awareness, meditation, Body/Soul/Rhythm work (Marion Woodman Foundation), and active imagination to facilitate a process toward healing and an experience of the Self. She is especially interested in trauma and the complementary teachings of Buddhism and Sandplay. Jill has practiced Zen meditation for over 20 years and is a teacher in the lineage of Suzuki-roshi. Jill has authored many articles in the Journal of Sandplay Therapy and has taught nationally and internationally. She is current President of Sandplay Therapists of America.
