M.Ed (Spec. in Counselling) (UNISA, South Africa)
Registered Clinical Psychologist (New Zealand)
Certified Sandplay Therapist (ISST)
After registration as a psychologist in 1995 in South Africa, I worked in a private practice until we immigrated to New Zealand in 2003. I have settled in the Waikato with my family. After working in a few educational settings and a charitable trust, I now have a full-time private practice in Hamilton.
I have been introduced to sandplay therapy in 2002 and since then have devoted my further continuing education to this modality. I am an advanced candidate for ISST (International Society of Sandplay Therapists) and sandplay psychotherapy has become the main therapeutic modality in my practice. In addition, I am trained in client-centred play therapy. Although I have extensive experience in working with children and adolescents, I also work with adults and offer supervision to colleagues who are working in similar modalities.
In addition to sandplay therapy, I am also focused on attachment theory, the latest research on neurodevelopment of the brain and trauma research. I value ethical principles highly and have regular supervision to ensure safe and best practice.
