Training
For the past 17 years Jean Parkinson has offered sandplay training in Auckland. These experiential workshops, differentiating Sandtray from Sandplay Therapy, are intended to promote awareness of the modality as a serious psychotherapy with strong psychological and developmental frameworks. They are not intended to take the place of training offered by ISST accredited teachers. Their value is in raising awareness, promoting professional reflection and interest in the responsible practice of Sandtray and Sandplay in Aotearoa.
Since 2010 presentations and supervision groups have been facilitated in Auckland by visiting International Sandplay Therapists/Teachers (CST-T): Rie Rogers-Mitchell, Gita Morena, Judy Zappacosta, Alexander Esterhyzen and Jill Kaplan. Other events open to us have been Jungian workshops with Joy Norton and Sarah Gibson (ANZJA).
Sandtray / Sandplay supervision is also offered for individuals and groups. There is also a STA Peer Reviewed Sandplay Journal discussion group.
Participants in these experiential courses need to be qualified Counsellors, Psychologists, Psychotherapists, Creative or Play Therapists.
